Steve Roberts began his photography career in 1980 doing medical photography. In the 90's he began shooting food and commercial work including catalogs and advertising. He worked with clients such as Holiday Inn, Seessels, Big Star, Piggly Wiggly, as well as a number of commercial printers and ad agencies.
His passion throughout his career however, has been music. He has photographed hundreds of concerts and done promo photos for numerous recording artists. His clients include Paul McCartney, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, B.B. King, The Memphis Horns, Memphis in May, Ardent Studios, MCA Records, Three Six Mafia, Al Kapone, Mid-South Concerts, Beaver Productions and many other local and national acts and recording studios. He has been a voting member of NARAS (The Grammy Awards) since 1993 and has served three times on their Board of Governors.
In the past few years, Steve has taken his talent to yet another level with his wedding photography. He has taken his experience in commercial, advertising and music photography and blended bits of each for his unique wedding style. Combining a bit of traditional photography with photojournalism, his wedding style can be called "portrait journalism". This style combined with years of experience and his "let's have fun with this" approach makes for a stress free wedding day and some very memorable images that will be cherished for years to come.
Although still shooting commercial work, magazine assignments and musicians, wedding photography has become his favorite. "I love being part of such a special day in a bride's life. Every wedding is so unique and I try to capture that in my images." says Roberts.
When not on assignment, Steve lives in Memphis with his wife, Kim, daughter, Madison and their two dogs Blondie and Charlie.
